HDClone is a program that allows you to make a mirror copy of the hard drive to another drive (the free version proposed by us allows you to copy discs unit reduced hard disk larger and vice versa). The software can be useful in many circumstances, for example if you wanted to transfer the entire contents of your hard disk to the new one, just purchased.
To use the program you must first obtain a floppy disk bearing in mind that all the contents will be automatically deleted. After you have unpacked the contents of the zip archive to a folder on your hard drive, simply double click the file install.exe. The wizard will be displayed on the screen allow you to create a floppy boot HDClone. This diskette will be left in the floppy drive when the personal computer whenever you want to start a “cloning” the HDD. A copy of the hard drive made by HDClone is a true copy “physical”: the program does not care about partitions and file systems but provides to run a mirror. It should be emphasized, moreover, as if bad sectors on the hard disk is not an obstacle for HDClone. The software currently supports only IDE disks of size up to 128 GB (therefore excluding units of type SCSI).
The interface of HDClone is shown that leaving the bootable floppy inserted when the system shows a kind of wizard that guides the user step-by-step in the operation of cloning the hard drive. From the first window you can select the hard drive you want to clone the hard drive so it’s specified destination (1:1 means that will be made an identical copy, 1: n is used to indicate that you are copying the contents of the disc a larger hard drives (n: 1 symbolizes the reverse situation). HD Clone is able to operate also in the so-called backup mode & Restore (B & R): in this case the first half of a disk can be copied in the second half (and vice versa) . In this way it is possible to perform a kind of “mirroring” of the hard disk without the need to install a second hard disk of the same size.
